PREMATURE EJACULATION (PE)

Premature ejaculation happens when an individual has an orgasm sooner than they would like. Premature ejaculation can happen before or shortly after penetration.
Premature ejaculation can be frustrating and embarrassing. You may feel you don’t have enough time to enjoy sex. You may have difficulty satisfying your partner. For some people, embarrassment about premature ejaculation can cause problems with intimacy and damage their relationships.
Premature ejaculation is a common problem. Up to 40% of individuals have this problem at some point in their lives.

PREMATURE EJACULATION CAUSES

• Poor body image or poor self-esteem
• Depression
• has a history of sexual abuse, either as the perpetrator, or as a victim or survivor.
• Worried about ejaculating too early
• Anxiety about limited sexual experience
• problems or dissatisfaction in your current relationship.
• Stress

Abnormal levels of certain hormones, such as testosterone, or chemicals produced by nerve cells called neurotransmitters, may contribute to PE. Inflammation of the prostate or urethra can also cause numerous symptoms, including PE and ED (Erectile Dysfunction).

Psychological therapy, behavioral therapy, and drugs are the main treatments for PE. You can talk with your health care provider to decide the best choice for you. More than one type of treatment may be used at the same time.
