Kidney cancer usually occurs in older people, The average age is 64. Kidney cancer is highly unlikely in people younger than age 45.
It can often be cured if it is diagnosed at the right time, that is, when it is only located in the kidney and the surrounding tissue. In some cases, if regional lymph and blood vessels are involved, many of them are able to achieve prolonged survival and a probable cure.
Chemotherapy is not generally used in kidney tumors. The most common and commonly treatable method is surgical removal of the kidney. The procedure can take 3 or more hours.
However, there is a chance of some slight loss in kidney function later in life. This usually takes 25 years or more to happen. There may also be a chance of having high blood pressure later in life.
However, the loss of kidney function is usually very mild, and the life span is normal. Most people with one kidney live healthy, normal lives with few problems.

1.Robot assisted partial Nephrectomy:
A robotic partial nephrectomy is performedย by making small incisions in the abdomen where the robotic surgical equipment and camera can be inserted. The abdominal cavity is then inflated with carbon dioxide gas to provide space for the manipulation of the surgical equipment and camera to access the cancerous tissues.
Laparoscopic and robotic partial nephrectomy requires that patients undergo a general anesthesia. While operative time varies from one individual to another, the average operating time isย approximately 3-4 hours.
Yourย belly will feel sore after the surgery. This usually lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. Your doctor will give you pain medicine for this. You may also have other symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, gas, or a headache.
Only available in centers that can afford the technology and have specially trained surgeons.
Your surgeon may need to convert to an open procedure with larger incisions if there are complications.
Risk of nerve damage and compression.
โข Bleeding that may require a blood transfusion.
โข Urinary leakage which almost always resolved with delayed healing.
โข Allergic reaction to anesthesia (rare)
โข Kidney failure, depending on the functioning of the remaining partial and whole kidney.
An open partial nephrectomy isย a surgery in which kidney cancer is removed along with a rim of normal kidney tissue next to it. After the cancer and the rim of normal kidney tissue are removed, the kidney is reconstructed. The goal is to save as much kidney function as possible.
It may takeย 3 to 6 monthsย for your energy to fully return. Your body can work fine with one healthy kidney. If both kidneys are removed or your remaining kidney is not healthy, your doctor will talk to you about the kind of treatment you will need after surgery.
After you return home, you may be able to return to light activity within a week or two. You will need toย avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least six weeks. After six weeks, you will need blood tests to monitor the function of your remaining kidney.

This procedure isย performed to remove a diseased kidney (due to cancer, trauma or other disease) or to harvest a healthy kidney for donor transplant.
Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy isย performed through 3 small incisions in the abdomen. The kidney and tumor are removed through a horizontal incision (usually about 3 inches) in the lower abdomen.
